Port Jervis. It’s Broadway, with a twist

The Presby Players’ annual salute to Broadway (aka Broadway Babies!) is about to open at Marsh Hall with a delightful variation: the guys will sing songs typically sung by women and the gals will sing songs typically sung by men.

Musical Director Sandy Stalter said a cast of 19 performers are ready to wow the audience with show tunes from across the decades.

“They’ll hear songs from The Fantasticks to Hamilton and more,” she said.

Artistic Director Jeffrey Stocker said the cast will “...range in age from pre-teen to over fifty and come from all over the tristate area.”

Stocker loves the fact that the community theater’s annual Broadway Babies serves more than a showcase for talent.

“It helps educate the singers; they’re introduced to Broadway history, to the American musical theater.”

The audience will also be treated to choreography by Melissa Thomas.

“It’s a crowd pleaser,” Stocker said. “So get to Marsh Hall a half hour prior to the performance to ensure a seat.”

Marsh Hall is located at 60 Sussex St., Port Jervis.

Dates are Friday, Sept. 8, and Saturday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 10, at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $15 at the door; $10 for students.
