Saints and Sinners: Young Dubliners Celtic rock band comes to Milford

| 06 Sep 2018 | 01:30

The Young Dubliners will crown the Milford Music Festival's Septemberfest on Saturday, Sept. 8 when they bring their supercharged mix of Irish folk music and rock to the Milford Theatre.
Tickets to their "Saints and Sinners" show cost $20 for adults or $15 when purchased in advance. Children under 15 are admitted free.
The Jethro Tull ConnectionAlthough the Young Dubliners are known as a "Celtic rock" band, that label oversimplifies what they do.
Irish rhythms and melodies may be front and center, but they're not the only influence on this quintet. After all, only two of the members are actually from Ireland, and "a lot of the music we listened to growing up wasn't Irish at all," says vocalist and acoustic guitar player Keith Roberts. That said, he adds, "When we got here, we got homesick and developed a new appreciation for Irish music."
Eight of the band's nine albums feature original material, and the Milford concert will include at least one song from each of their albums.
The Young Dubliners have appeared on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and provided music for TV shows such as "Sons of Anarchy" and "Human Target."
They have toured extensively, too, both as headliners and as the opening act for Jethro Tull, Collective Soul, Johnny Lang, Los Lobos and Chris Isaak. The Young Dubliners features Roberts, bass player Brandan Holmes, percussionist Dave Ingraham, guitarist Justin Pecot, and Chas Waltz, a wizard who plays keyboards, violin, harp, and mandolin.
