— Little Dominic James is the first child born to his mother, Adriana, and father, Joseph, of Pike County. He's also the first baby born in 2015 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

With the help of board-certified obstetrician Mehran Langroudi, MD, Dominic entered the world at 6:17 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, at 7 pounds, 7.2 ounces and 20 inches.

The Pike County couple said the birth of their son was an “unexplainable feeling, exhilarating and were shocked he was the first of the New Year.”

Mary Lou Eimers, RN, clinical coordinator for the New Beginnings department, presented the happy couple and “First Baby” with a basket full of goodies. This is the last basket that Eimers personally shopped for. After 18 and a half years working in obstetrics at Wayne Memorial, this dedicated nurse, mother of three daughters, grandmother of four, two boys and two girls, retired the day after Dominic's birth.

“I’m going to miss my fellow workers, helping bring babies into the world and taking care of those babies,” said Eimers.
