Bushkill resident honored as Berkeley School of Health pins graduates

BUSHKILL — Graduates in the Practical Nurse program of the Berkeley College School of Health Studies were honored during a pinning ceremony held on Oct. 13 in Woodland Park, N.J.  Reciting the Florence Nightingale Pledge, the 37 graduates promised to uphold the integrity of the nursing profession before receiving their honors. 
Rosa Mendez of Bushkill received a pin from Berkeley College.
Josiane Hickson, EdD, RN-BC, NE-BC, Chair, Nursing and Patient Care Technician programs, Berkeley College School of Health Studies, gave the welcome address and congratulated the graduates.  
“The pin you receive today from Berkeley College represents a symbol of our great respect and fondness for each of you,” Dr. Hickson said.  “Please wear it proudly and know that we are one with you on your journey to professional practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  Your mission now is to care for your patients, advocate for them and promote environments that are conducive to healing.”    
Practical Nurses provide care to their patients in a variety of healthcare environments, including physicians’ offices, clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers and home healthcare settings.
The Berkeley College School of Health Studies was created to provide career-focused education in some of today’s most in-demand healthcare professions — in clinical specializations, as well as healthcare administration and management. Degree and certificate programs have been carefully developed to meet the needs of this important field.
