Alice M. Bunce passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020, at Milford Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center, Milford, Pa. She was 96.

Daughter of the late Pierce and Alice Mary (Kehoe) Fleming, she was born on June 3, 1924 in New York City.

Alice worked for the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in New York City for 30 plus years as a chief clerk.

She grew up in Greenwich Village and attended St. Joseph’s College. After she married Vincent E. Bunce, they had three sons together. Alice loved Pike County, spending the summers from the late 1940s through 1990s. After retiring, she became a full-time resident of Pike County.

Alice had many interests. She was an avid reader, loved travel, enjoyed music, theater and art, and later she took up painting as a hobby.

One of most amazing things about her was remembering in detail family history, a gift for all who were fortunate to hear the stories she shared. These times will be greatly missed.

Alice leaves behind her son Pierce J. Bunce and his wife, Diane; grandchildren, Jackie, Pierce Jr., Kristen, Kyle, Kristina, and Patrick; great-grandchildren, Selena, Alyssa, Brandon, Logan, Jayden, Andrew, Sarah, Matthew, Ryan, and Collin; and daughter-in-law Denise Bunce.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent E. Bunce; and two sons, Vincent E. Bunce Jr. and Richard K. Bunce.

Visitation was scheduled to be held at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Hartford St., Milford, on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 2 to 4 .m. and 7 to 9 p.m., in which a eulogy and sharing will take place at the later viewing celebrating Alice’s life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, at Holy Name of Mary-Assumption, Montgomery, N.Y., with the Rev. Matthew Reiman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montgomery.
