Betty Case, 88, of Apex, NC, passed away quietly on September 3, 2022, while watching one of her favorite crime dramas.

Betty was born on August 27, 1934, to Thomas and Louise Sittler in New Haven, CT. After graduating from Milford High School in 1952, she obtained her Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology at Franklin School of Science and Arts in Philadelphia. Much of her career was spent at St. Francis/Mercy Hospital in Port Jervis, NY.

Betty married Walter B. Case on May 15, 1954. Their first date, a Sadie Hawkins Dance she invited him to while still in high school, started the ball rolling. Together they had three daughters.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynda Case, of Kent, WA; Suzanne Case, of Apex, NC and Beth Case of Apex NC; her half-sister Peggy Busacca (husband Mario) of Melbourne, FL and half-brother Scott Sittler, MD of Orlando, FL. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Walter, in 1975 and her younger brother, Thomas G. Sittler, (2011).

Betty loved reading and devoured nonfiction, primarily political and historical topics, as well as novels. She loved gardening and created beautiful flower gardens wherever she lived. Her superpower was having gatherings and entertaining in her home. She always wanted to be sure people had a place to be included and well fed, whether it was 22 of her closest relatives for Thanksgiving at The Hill House in Milford, the stranded graduate student during holidays or just a Sunday dinner of the local family.

Her kindness, quick wit, and subtle sarcasm will be missed by all.

Interment will be held at Milford Cemetery, Milford, PA, on October 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. This will be followed by a gathering at a location to be determined. In memory, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the local animal shelter of your choice.
