Richard William Renka Sr. of Milford, Pa., passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Pa. He was 79.

Son of the late William and Eleanor (Muskus) Renka, he was born on Aug. 9, 1940 in the Bronx, N.Y.

He worked as a salesman for Computer Automation and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam era working with missiles underground. He so enjoyed his work, especially being the youngest to join the super classified operation.

Richard was proud of belonging to the Knights of Columbus along with his father from World War II. He so enjoyed traveling and connecting with people from all over the world with his job of selling and managing computers. He was an avid reader, especially of the daily paper and historical fiction.

Richard’s true joy came from enjoying his family through drives on Sundays, meal times and treats, movies, music and whistling, photography of the great outdoors, and many leisurely walks through parks, gardens, and paths. He also had a passion for trading stocks, fishing, and boating in Vermont.

Richard leaves behind his children, Richard W. Renka II, Rhonda Knight, Bonnie Gideonse, and Katherine Renka; grandsons, Richard Ohaus, Randall Ohaus, and Thomas Ohaus; great-grandchildren, Nathan Ohaus and Emily Ohaus; and surviving siblings, Marge Hueber, Ed Renka, and Patsy Edgell.

Services were to be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to Covenant House, Richard’s favorite charity to help homeless children (CovenantHouse.org).

Arrangements were made by Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford.
