    Robert “Bob” Compton Jr. passed away on July 20, 2023, in Newton Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. He was at 68 years young

    Bob was the son of June (Gilroy) Compton and Robert D. Compton Sr. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and raised in Hanover Township.

    He attended St Aloysius School and was a daily alter server for many years.

    Bob graduated from Hanover High School in 1972. He was a proud Eagle Scout and received the Order of the Arrow recognition.

    Bob was a talented and hard-working chef his entire adult life, mostly in the Pocono Mountains, with the last ten years in Milford, Pa.

    He lived life to the fullest enjoying live music, spending time with family and friends, and cooking for the family when he wasn’t in the restaurant kitchen. Cooking was Bob’s love language.

    Bob is survived by his mother, June Compton; daughter Michelle Compton and husband Carlos Hattabaugh; granddaughters Paige, Ava and Victoria; brother Richard and wife Ginny Compton; sisters Patti James, JoAnne and husband Rick Schoenknecht; nieces and nephews David and wife Alek Compton, Jamie Compton, Sarah James; and great nieces and nephews.

    Bob is preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Compton Sr. and the love of his life, Jayne Bourque.

    A private celebration of life was held for Bob with music and laughter, just the way he would have wished.

    Bob will be remembered for his incredible cooking and the love he had for his family.

    In honor of Bob’s avid love for dogs, memorial donations can be made to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge in Dallas, Pennsylvania.
