The Ann Street School in Milford has announced its closing with the following message to the community:

“It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the closing of The Ann Street School, which has been a mission and a ministry of the Milford United Methodist Church for over thirty years. Hundreds of children and families from this community have come through our doors to receive an early education that has prepared them for life. It is because of all of you that we were able to build this wonderful ministry. Whether it was allowing the students to Trick or Treat, supporting our Bunny Breakfast, or helping the children learn about the Food Pantry, you helped make our school a success.

“In the church, we truly believe what the writer of Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, ‘for everything there is a season.’ The season of the Ann Street School has come to an end, but we wanted to show our appreciation to the following people:

“Our current director, Dianna Thatcher, for her many years of service, creativity, and love

“The staff, past and present, of The Ann Street School who dedicated years to the children and families who have come through our doors

“The families who trusted the Ann Street School with caring for their children

“The alumni of the school

“The Milford UMC Community

“The Greater Milford Community

“The Milford United Methodist Church Council did not make this decision lightly, however the global pandemic has made the financial realities of supporting a church with a building and multiple staff members more difficult than we could have anticipated.

“We look forward to the ways we will be able to continue to serve our community and for what God has in store for us next.”
