Honesdale. Wayne Memorial Hospital’s first baby of 2021 is Carter Schariest, born to Kayla and Steven Schariest of Hawley. Carter entered the world at 5:50 a.m. on New Year’s Day weighing 7 pounds, 7.5 ounces and stretching out to 20.5 inches long. His parents were thrilled to have the hospital’s very first New Year’s baby. “It’s exciting!” said Kayla. The delivering provider was Thomas O’Brien, MD, from the Women’s Health Center in Honesdale, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers. New Beginnings Birthing Suites staff gave the family a basket of goodies to celebrate Carter’s arrival Carter joins big brother Parker, age 2, at home.
