Milford observes Small Business Saturday

| 20 Nov 2017 | 01:01

— The specialty stores, spas, and eateries of Milford welcome shoppers this Saturday, Nov. 25, as part of the growing national movement to #shopsmall on Small Business Saturday.
The event started in 2010 as an alternative to an increasingly overwhelming Black Friday, providing an escape from busy parking lots and mall crowd chaos while encouraging holiday shoppers to patronize their local communities and support the businesses that make their downtown special. Need more reasons to shop Milford his season? Small Business Saturday promotions can be found on every block as you take a pleasant walk around this easily accessible small town.
Most Milford stores are known for the unique gifts that they offer, with locally crafted and one-of-a-kind items to fit any budget, as well as the always popular gift certificates for goods and services. On Small Business Saturday, a number of business owners are offering 10-20 percent discounts, including Lacquer Nail Bar, the Frisky Goat Coffeehouse, Ambience Fine Furniture and Gifts, Breathless Beauty, Karenina's, Milford Pet Foods and Supply and SilverStar Jewelry.
Many will offer special services like free gift wrapping and complimentary refreshments as a courtesy to their customers. A few are hosting prize drawings during Small Business Saturday, including a $50 gift certificate at Upriver Home and an $20 gift certificate awarded hourly at the Milford Craft Show. All purchases from Calling All Angels "Give Back Saturday" will support various local charities and The Dimmick Inn is offering 10 percent off your Saturday meal with a receipt of $25 or more from a local business.
