John Gilpin, the Pike County Treasurer, on Tuesday warned dog owners looking to purchase new or renewal licenses about a fraudulent website selling dog licenses online.

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement has identified www.padoglicense.online as selling fake Pennsylvania dog licenses and even paying search engines to appear at the top of search results pages for common terms, like “Pennsylvania dog license” or “renew PA dog license.”

Pike County residents looking to buy a new or renewal dog license should use caution and follow these steps to ensure they’re making an official purchase:

● Skip the search engine to avoid being targeted by fraudulent entities

● Go directly to the Pike County Treasurer website at www.pikepa.org/treasurer.

● Visit any of the following: North Country Feed & Pet Supply, 1831 Route 739, Dingmans Ferry; Dawn’s Tag and Title Service, 123 Village Center Drive, Suite 11, Lords Valley; or the Pike County Treasurer’s Office, 506 Broad St., Milford.

● When in doubt, call 570-296-3441 for more information.

If you have a concern about a third-party website, call the Pennsylvania Attorney General Bureau of Consumer Protection at 1-800-441-2555.
