Shohola Boy Scout Troop 76 invites the tristate community to slip into their running or walking shoes for the Shohola-Barryville Bridge 5K Run/Walk.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12, at 9:30 a.m. The course begins at Rohman Park and winds through the rolling hills of Shohola Township, the town of Shohola, then across the Delaware River on the Shohola‐Barryville Bridge into Barryville, N.Y. A short way out and back down River Road in Barryville is followed by another trip across the bridge and then a loop through Shohola back to Rohman Park.

The 5K kicks off "Pumpkins in the Park," a community event sponsored by the Shohola Park and Recreation Committee. It begins at 11:30 a.m. at Rohman Park.

Proceeds from the 5K will support Boy Scout Troop 76 program activities such as Merit Badge opportunities, summer camp fees for those in need, and equipment for camping trips. A portion of the proceeds also will be donated to the Ecumenical Food Pantry of Pike County.

Race day registration and packet pick-up starts at 7:30 a.m. at Rohman Park, 120 Twin Lakes Road, Shohola. To guarantee a race T-shirt, early registration is highly recommended. For additional information and to register, visit the race website at troop76events.com.
