Fourteen years ago, I began passing through Milford every weekend back and forth from Brooklyn. I fell in love with the town and kept hoping that I would find a way to make my living here one day. After 10 years of saving pennies to make that leap, I took the risk of opening my shop, Behind the French Doors. A while later, I invested in an associated business, Old Lumberyard Antiques. It’s been four years since I attained my dream, but I’ve never felt so worried about the future of our town.

Mayoral candidate Lisa Emery claims to support small businesses but doesn’t say what she is planning to do for them. What does she know about us if she lived in CT for many years and only recently moved back to town? Being a retired mortgage manager, what knowledge does she have regarding small businesses here? She never in four years stepped into my store.

I hear customers complaining about those ridiculous Trump dolls she and her husband displayed during the 2020 election season with offensive slogans. Doesn’t she know our SMALL BUSINESSES, which she claims she cares for, are based on tourists and visitors? Yet she and her husband are right-wing extremists whose actions scare these visitors away.

Mayor Sean Strub has worked to support and enhance the business climate in Milford for over 20 years. He himself is a businessman who knows the ropes of running a business in a seasonal economy. The only way to keep our business community strong is to reelect Mayor Strub.
