    To the Editor:

My name is John Parise and I am a retired director of athletics as well as the head of the physical education department in one of the area high schools. I was in education for 40 years, prior to my retirement. I understand, from reading your Advertiser, that you want students to tell you what they love about their teacher. Well, my daughter, Danielle, is the mother of three students and I can tell you that the moms ought to be saluted for what they do every day, to keep their children at their computers interested and diligent in doing their work every day.

You see, she runs a business, as well as keeping two eight-year-olds and one five year old up to date doing their school work by computer and completing assignments. Not to mention, when all this is done for the day she has to go home and cook dinner.

Therefore, I truly feel you should honor the moms to some degree for making sure that the work is completed. It’s the moms that make the little ones look good, not just the teacher.

    John Parise
