    Christopher M. Markert of the Town of Mt. Hope, N.Y., died on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. He was 36.
    Son of Donald B. Markert and Catherine F. Christopher Markert, he was born Dec. 2, 1979, in Harris, N.Y.
    He was 1998 graduate of Minisink Valley High School, where he was on the football team and ran track. He was a past member of the Goshen Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where he served as an EMT and a past member of the Minisink Hook and Ladder Company in Goshen. He was a member of the Mt. Hope Fire Company, where he served as the fire police captain. He worked as a customer service representative for Lowe’s in Matamoras, Pa.
    A family statement read: "At the request of Christopher and his mother, Catherine, who are both Organ Donor Recipients (2 Hearts and 1 Kidney for Christopher and 1 Heart for Catherine) PLEASE consider Organ Donation because it can help so many people who are in need of Organs or Tissue, like Christopher and Catherine."
    Survivors include his mother, Catherine Markert, at home; father, Donald Markert of the State of Florida; uncle, Michael Christopher and his wife, Elaine Lybolt, of Lords Valley, Pa.; girlfriend, Becky VanHorn of Johnson, N.Y.; Goddaughter Zoey and her sister Ella, who both called him "Uncle Chris": and several cousins.
    He was predeceased by his brother Ryan Markert on Sept. 15, 2007.
    Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, on Saturday, April 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
    Funeral services and Firematic Services will be held Saturday, April 16, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, Pa.
