Richard G. Schaeffer of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., passed away at home on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020. He was 96.
Son of the late Herman B. and Mary (Besold) Schaeffer, he was born on July 10, 1924, in New York, N.Y. He was married to Joan (Campbell) Schaeffer.
He worked as a master machinist for Accurate Bushing Company in Garwood, N.J., was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, and was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
Richard leaves behind his wife of 73 years, Joan Schaeffer; son Gary Schaeffer and his wife, Kathy; daughter, Gail Ciandella; grandchildren, Michelle (Ciandella) Hills and her husband, Steve, Ashley (Schaeffer) Porter and her husband, Robert, and Jason Boggs and his wife, Cheryl; and great-grandchildren, Jay Thomas, Drew Porter and Luke Porter.
He was pre-deceased by his son Gerard; twin brother, Herman; and sister, Marylin (Cascio).
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 15 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Milford, Pa., with the Rev. John Boyle officiating. Burial followed at Delaware Cemetery, Delaware Township, where military honors were rendered.
