— Bobby soxers and sox hoppers will be breaking out their poodle skirts and James Dean tough guy T-shirts for this year's Milford Enhancement Committee Welcome Party.
The annual fundraiser for the committee, to be held this year on June 17, welcomes back seasonal residents and welcomes new residents to the area. This year it's commemorating the committee’s 20th anniversary by adopting a 1950s theme, complete with a performance by Theme Brooklyn Judy and The Boys, a vintage jukebox spinning 1950s dance songs, vintage cars, and a costume contest.
“The Welcome Party kicks off the summer season and is always a lot of fun,” said Kari Murante, one of the event co-chairs. “This year, in honor of the MEC’s 20th anniversary, we wanted to take it up a notch with a fun theme and great entertainment.”
“We are also delighted that we have so many new people who will be attending this year,” said Claudia Copus, also an event co-chair. “The Welcome Party is a great way for those new to the area to meet others who care about our community.”
The party will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, under a tent at 108 West Ann St. in Milford. Food will be donated by 20 local restaurants, and there will be an open wine and beer bar.
Tickets are $50 and available at Eventbrite.com (under “2017 Milford Enhancement Committee Welcome Party”), by contacting Maryanne Monte at 570-296-5420, or by mailing a check to “MEC” at POB 1172, Milford, PA 18337.
A limited number of tickets will be available at the door on the day of the event.
