A reflection on being alone, or not, in a materialistic world
MILFORD — The inaugural Milford Readers and Writers Festival, taking place Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, begins at the Milford Theatre with an energetic performance by Humans Collective.
The ensemble creatively expresses the diverse human condition. Its mission statement: “Through our work we challenge and encourage ourselves and others to become reflective, open-minded leaders for a better collection of humans.”
The theater is located at 114 East Catherine St. in Milford.
"We’re proud and excited that the Milford Theatre will be the site of this inaugural tribute to the rich history of Milford as a creative center for literature and the arts,” said Jerry Beaver, theater owner.
Beginning at 7 p.m., the group will perform its popular “Alone-Ology,” described as “a study of the human experience of being alone or lack thereof.” The subject was inspired by Maya Angelou's poem “Alone” and takes the audience from the emptiness of materialism to the value of authentic interactions and the love of another human being. The performance features powerful music, live poetry, singing, and innovative choreography. To learn more, visit www.humanscollective.com.
