MILFORD - On Saturday evening, Feb. 11, selected photos from the “A Sense of Place Weekend” will be displayed at the 70 NW Photo Gallery on Broad Street in Milford. The gallery will remain open, hosting a reception for the participants, as part of the Art After Dark program. On the weekend of Oct. 21 to 23 last year, visitors participated in the “A Sense of Place Weekend,” sponsored by the 70 NW Photo Gallery. Gallery Owner, Patrick Sellitto offered the weekend as a chance for photographers of any skill level to improve their camera techniques and to enjoy the visual beauty of the Milford area. Art After Dark is an agreement between certain business owners in Milford to keep their shops open from 6 to 9 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. Many art galleries kick off new exhibits on that evening with a reception for the artist. Participants were able to hear lectures from such photographers as Wendel White, a fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and Gerald Appel, the author of several books on photography. On the Saturday last October, visitors teamed up with the photographers of their choice and went to pre-selected destinations to take pictures with the pros. At the Feb. 11 reception, participants can renew the experience and admire each other’s shots. The exhibit will remain until March 5. For more information call 570-296-6789.
