WOODSMEN’S COMPETITION AT WAYNE COUNTY FAIR HONESDALE The 27th Woodsmen’s Competition is set for Saturday, Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. in front of the grandstand at the 148th Wayne County Fair. This years events include: Chain Saw Tree Felling, Axe Throwing, Two Person Crosscut, Jack and Jill Crosscut, Vertical Log Chop, five classes of Chain Sawing including one class for ladies only, and new this year, Skill Tree Felling. The Wayne County Fairgrounds are located on route 191, one mile north of Honesdale. Admission to the fairgrounds is $8 per person, which includes parking, exhibits, rides and free grandstand for this event. For more information check out www.waynecountyfair.com . Garden club in August MILFORD The Milford Garden Club’s next meeting is Tuesday, August 10, and their speaker is Chris Leskosky, of “Creations by Chris,” who is the recording secretary of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania. She will be returning for a second year. Two of her designs have been featured in the National Garden Club, “Visions of Beauty” calendar - one in 2005 and one in 2009. The meeting is at 10 a.m. Meetings are held in the First Presbyterian Church of Milford, located at Broad and Ann streets. Ghost stories at Moonlight Legends MILFORD If you’re looking for something new and fun to do on weekends, come to Moonlight Legends, every Friday, Saturday evening through the summer and into the fall. Learn about local legends, ghost stories and tales of the past. Weather permitting, the shows will be held on the beautiful deck overlooking the Vandermark Creek. During inclement weather, the shows will be held in our quaint Victorian parlor. Our storytelling professionals , include Ruth Radone, and Greg Gibson , who have had years of acting experience with the American Readers Theater in Milford and The Presby Players in Port Jervis, N.Y. So if you have a ghost story to share or if you’re interested in paranormal activity or if you’d just like to come and be entertained, we will see you at 801 Broad Street, on the corner of Sarah Street, at the TLC Salon building.
