Martha Lorin at Cliff Park MILFORD On Saturday, Sept 4, the Martha Lorin Quartet will be performing in the Cypress Room at Cliff Park Inn 6:30 to 10 p.m. There will be performances at 7:30 and 9 p.m. The quartet features, Martha Lorin, vocals; Bill Pernice, piano; Harvie S, bass; and Bill Goodwin, drums. The dinner special, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with music til 10 p.m., is $35 per person and includes hors d’oeuvres and a four-course dinner. Life drawing class MILFORD It’s time to sign up for artist, Jane Koeck’s September/October Life Drawing sessions. The six-week sessions, in conjunction with Pike County Arts and Crafts, run from Sept 7 through Oct. 12 and cost $90. Classes are held on Tuesday’s from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Milford Borough Building, at 109 West Catharine Street. Gardening Workshop BLOOMING GROVE A Fall Gardening Workshop, sponsored by Penn State Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners, will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9 AM until noon. It will be held at the Pike County Conservation District building, 556 Rt. 402, in Blooming Grove. The cost is $10. meditation. Kayak lessons at Kittatinny Canoes MATAMORAS Kittatinny Canoes will offer a “Learn to Kayak” class on Sept. 11. Participants should meet at Kittatinny’s river base in Matamoras, at 9 a.m., where certified instructors will teach novices the essentials of kayaking, followed by a guided ten mile trip from Pond Eddy, N.Y. to Matamoras. This will be the final learn to kayak class for the 2010 season. Please call ahead to make your reservations at 800-356-2852. BOWLING Leagues now forming PORT JERVIS, N.Y. The Thursday Night Women’s Bowling League at Port Jervis Bowl has openings for several people. You can form your own team of four or join individually and be placed on an existing team. Bowling begins at 7 p.m. and usually finishes up around 9:30 p.m. No experience is necessary. Bowling balls are available for use and shoes can be rented. Bowling is lots of fun and is an excellent opportunity to meet new people. The fee is only $15 per week, with a portion of the monies going toward end-of-the-year prize money for all bowlers. The league runs from Sept 9 through next April. Originally created as a small festival for musicians to celebrate the end of their summer season of performing in the resorts and a chance to gather and perform together, the festival has swelled to be the place to be at summer’s end in the Poconos. The festival takes place in the heart of the storied village of Delaware Water Gap on Friday Sept. 10 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 12.
