Artery welcomes its newest members

New Faces - a showcase featuring the artery’s newest members MILFORD The Artery, Milford’s artist-owned and operated cooperative gallery, welcomes it’s newest members for a special showcase throughout the month of May. The show, “New Faces,” will feature the work of three talented and diverse artists. Recognized by her realistic oversized butterfly paintings and fine line etchings, Debbie Gioello unveils her series “Black on White,” a collection of bold, contemporary polymer paintings on paper inspired by figurative settings. Influenced by old photos and negatives acquired from flea markets and online sources, Greg Hicho brings a sense of humor and nostalgia to his finely detailed watercolor series “Halcyon Days,” evoking memories of another time and place. Janet Rutkowski will introduce her newest series of metal sculpture titled “The Rift,” which is inspired by The Golden Compass books by Phillip Pullman. Each piece represents a portal, and the possibility of other entering other realms or dimensions. The exhibition will run from May 7 through June 8. Please feel free to stop by and meet the artists, view their work, and enjoy some light refreshments during the artist’s reception on Saturday, May 9 between 4 and 8 p.m. The Artery is located in historic Forest Hall at the corner of Broad and Harford Streets in Milford, and is a proud participant in the Art After Dark program. Milford’s streets come alive during this town-wide, second Saturday art walk event. Regular gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Monday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 570 409-1234.
