At the Shawnee Gallery: ‘Homespun'

SHAWNEE — “Homespun”: a celebration of Pennsylvania’s Agrarian Traditions and the Pleasures of Home is the exhibit at the Shawnee Gallery. Included are: Earl W. Lehman farm scenes, woodcuts by Flavia Bacarella, porcelain objet’s d’art by Linda Schwartz, furniture by ShawneeCraft and Lisa Fedon, handloomed silk, alpaca and wool scarves by Leslie Mulligan, and winterscapes by Bill Hobbs. Saturday Dec. 12, 3-4 p.m.: woodcut printmaking demonstration with Flavia Bacarella. Her woodcuts illustrate farmer-husband Keith Stewart’s published Essay Collection: “It’s a Long Road to a Tomato: Tales of an Organic Farmer who Quit the Big City for the (Not So) Simple Life”; 4:30: book reading and signing; 6 to 8 p.m., opening reception for “Homespun”, with artists Earl Lehman, Flavia Bacarella, and Bill Hobbs. Sunday, Dec. 20, 1-4 p.m. “Meet Bill Hobbs,” landscape painting demonstration at the Gallery. The Gallery is offering limited edition Hobbs giclees, 6 x 12” priced at $75 which are perfect for gift giving, available now through Jan 4. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 5-8 p.m., “Messiah Warm Up,” warm up at the gallery with last-minute holiday purchases and a “snog of nog” before the Sing-In. Exhibit features Lehman farmscenes inspired by agrarian wonders of the fertile Delaware River Valley; Linda Schwartz porcelain, ShawneeCraft and Lisa Fedon furniture, handloomed fiber wear by Delaware River Guild weavers, and Honey Hill Pottery, and winterscapes by Bill Hobbs.
