An exhibition about love for the Valentine season NARROWSBURG, N.Y. — Alliance Gallery’s second annual exhibition of photographs, collage, poetry, and “poem objects” celebrating the universal theme of love, “Be Mine Too,” opens on Saturday, Jan. 30. There will be an opening reception from 2 - 4 p.m. The exhibit runs throughout the Valentine’s Day season, closing on Saturday, Feb. 20. “In February, residents of the Catskills can use a little warmth,” says Alliance Gallery director Rocky Pinciotti. “The concept of an exhibition based on romance, love, desire, and affection is not a unique idea, but it is an engaging one.” Mary Greene of the Upper Delaware Writers Collective and the River Reporter curated the poetry portion of the exhibition. The poets will create “poem objects” to sculpturally illustrate their words and will also recite their poems during the opening reception. Photographers and collage artists include Linda Berkowicz, Norma Bernstock, Nada Clyne, Gloria Forelli, Edith Gould, Kristin Gronbeck, Erica Hart, Philip Hazard, JoAnne Kalish, Lindell McElfresh, Brandi Merolla, Sarah Sax, Bill Strouse, and Leslie Yudelson. Poets featured in the show are Cass Collins, Will Conway, Lorraine Davis, Rees Davis, Briar DeHaven, Nancy Dymond, Kathy Grimaldi, Judith Lechner, Sandy Long, Jane Luchsinger, Pamela Lundgren, Georganna Millman, Mimi Moriarty, and Corinne Robins. “Be Mine Too” is a continuation of last winter’s photography and poetry show. New this year is the inclusion of artistic collages. “It is a medium that lends itself extremely well to the spontaneous creative expression of emotion that is the essence of the exhibition,” says Pinciotti. Last year’s opening reception brought out an overflow crowd. This exhibit, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Arts Council for Sullivan County, N.Y. Alliance Gallery is located at the Delaware Arts Center at 37 Main Street, Narrowsburg. Call 845-252-7576 or visit www.ArtsAllianceSite.org .
