'BLUE TATTOO' to be screened at the Cooperage

| 05 Jan 2016 | 06:50

The documentary "Blue Tattoo," to be screened later this month at the Cooperage, tells about the friendship of folksinger/songwriter Joe Crookston of Ithaca, N.Y., and Holocaust survivor Dina Jacobson of Elmira, N.Y. Crookston wrote the song "Blue Tattoo" from Jacobson's perspective as a new immigrant to America, explaining the meaning of the blue tattoo on her arm to her four-year-old daughter, Connie, in a way that protects her innocence. Jacobson works to bring a greater understanding of the Holocaust by speaking to schoolchildren about her experiences at Auschwitz. Crookston will introduce the film with song and story at the Cooperage screening, set for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24. The Cooperage is located at 1030 Main St. in Honesdale.
