Carousel at the Pocono Playhouse

MOUNTAINHOME Pocono Playhouse will bring its 61st consecutive season to an end with the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel for a two week run starting Thursday, Aug. 21. Carousel tells the story of carnival man Billy Bigelow, who is killed during an attempted robbery. Billy is allowed to return to earth for a short time to seek out the daughter he left behind. The brilliant score includes “If I Loved You” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. The Pocono Playhouse production of Carousel runs from August 21 through Aug. 31. Show times are Thursdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $23-$25 and may be purchased by calling the reservation center at 570-595-7456 or by visiting the website at www.poconoplayhouse.com. Ending the 2008 Children’s Theatre stage at Pocono Playhouse is the Disney favorite Aladdin, Jr. Children’s Theater performances for this production are Friday, Aug. 22 and Friday, Aug. 29 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. Tickets for Children’s Theatre range from $8-$9. Pocono Playhouse is located on Playhouse Lane, just off state Route 390 in Mountainhome. The 2008 season concludes with these two final productions.
