Cats' coming to Delaware Valley

WESTFALL One of the longest-running musicals of all time is coming to Milford. The DVHS Drama Club will present “Cats” on May 1, 2 and 3 in the Delaware Valley High School auditorium. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The three performances will also feature the Junkyard Café, where theater-goers can enjoy delicious homemade refreshments. The café will be open for one hour before and after each performance, in addition to intermission. The DVHS Art Department’s annual show can also be viewed during this time. “Cats,” written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, is a musical spectacular based on the poems from T.S. Elliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.” The show ran for 18 years on Broadway, making it the second longest-running show on Broadway. A musical that transports the audience into a complete fantasy world, “Cats” has enchanted the world with a score that includes the hit song “Memory.” Featured performers include seniors Natasha Green, Kurt Merrill, Morgane Fouse, Jovan Johnson; juniors Taylor James, Eric Cuevas, Jaime Wright, Dionna Eshleman, Kat Kreischer; sophomores Alex Buda, Nadege Hoeper, Katie Donahue; and freshmen Anthony Reyes, Savannah Wilson, and Matthew Tidridge. Members of the company also include: Lucas Cuevas, Darius Glover, Jason Sandonato, Westley Mondoske, Jonathan Fornoff, Daniel Cella, Nick Riccio, Caleb Sherman, Kayla Holzer, Regina Reese, Daphne Moret, Cristina Estepa, Alisa Cawley, Mira Lazaroff, Karen Wolsiefer, Christie Grimm, Shannon Baird, Aoife Dowd, Valerie Ferguson, and Alexis Cooper. Long-time DV drama director Kim Golden has assembled a staff of professionals to make this huge production a success. They include Melissa Thomas, choreographer; Lance Rauh, musical director; Sandy Stalter, vocal director; Caroline Lehman, assistant director; Laura Walsh, artistic director/stage manager; Steve Davis, construction/set designer; Dan DellaVecchia, lighting/sound effects designer, and Jeff Brewster, dance assistant. Members of the DV Drama Booster Club organize and staff many production departments, and are responsible for the Junkyard Café. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students/senior citizens, and go on sale April 1. All seats are reserved, and early reservations are strongly suggested.
