Debbie Gioello's works bloom for new exhibit
MILFORD — The Milford Craft Show presents the work of artist Debbie Gioello in her "Spring Flowers & Butterflies in June" show, now open in the upstairs gallery, 120 East Harford St., Milford.
The show will continue through July 5.
Gioello channeled her creativity in the field of fashion design as a designer, educator, and writer while pursuing ways to show her artwork. Her career in fashion design started in 1951. As a designer behind a label, she designed for various 7th Avenue design companies until opening her own fashion design studio and manufacturing company. While owning her own design company, she started teaching at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. As a full-time professor, she also served as chair of the Fashion Design Department during the early 1990s.
She has shown her artwork professionally since 1970. Her solo shows included Center Art Galley and Little Carnegie Gallery, both in New York City; Summerfield Gallery in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., the Art Barn in Greenwich, Conn., among others. She's received many awards for her fine etching renditions, abstract polymer paintings, realistic butterfly paintings and impressionistic watercolor paintings.
Gioello lives in Westchester County, N.Y., and has a part-time home in Pike County. The "Spring Flowers" show pays tribute to her adopted community.
"I've admired Debbie's work since she first came to Milford and am thrilled to give her work a home in my own, especially this collection," said Milford Craft Show owner Barbara Eisenberg. "We hope you'll come by the gallery to see it for yourself."
