Dress as a Sherlock Holmes character for library's murder-mystery dinner
MILFORD — The Pike County Public Library will host its annual dinner and fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Silver Birches Resort in Hawley.
"The dinner is being held in honor of Mrs. Martha Dubensky, the founder and executive director of GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center, for her continuous and generous support of not only the Library, but also the entire community," says the invitation, which is open to all.
Tickets are $75 and include cocktail hour, dinner, and a live murder-mystery event.
To continue the tradition of an annual literary-themed event, guests are encouraged to read the Sherlock Holmes novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (available for check out with a library card), and to dress in their best mystery costumes. Some other examples to get costume ideas from include books by Agatha Christie or the board game and movie Clue. The evening will also include 50/50 raffles, a silent auction for gift certificates to Silver Birches and Woodloch Pines Resort, and more.
The event begins at 6 p.m. with cocktail hour and dinner beings at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at either branch of the library or online at Eventbrite.com.
Anyone interested in sponsoring the event should contact the library via email, director@pcpl.org, or phone 570-296-8211.
