'Evening of Jazz' to raise money for ALS therapy

— "An Evening of Jazz" will be held at Camp Akenac in Dingmans Ferry from 7 until 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 17.
This family-oriented event will raise funds for Gambetta Ballet and Camp Akenac, which hosts Gambetta during the summer.
Music will be performed by Those Gypsies, a rhythm-driven global jazz trio playing jazz standards, contemporary music and improvisations in a bop format. The group derives its distinctive sound by incorporating percussion instruments from the Mediterranean regions and Latin America along with horn, guitar and other world music instruments to create unique interpretations and new sounds.
Gambetta Ballet originates from the Japanese and translates to "perseverance" or “keep going." Founded by dance coach Preston McCollum, it is an exercise and dance class designed to aid those with physical limitations due to illness or injury achieve healthier movement and mobility. McCollum lives with Lou Gehrig’s disease or, ALS, and instructs through movement and ballet technique to assist participants to redevelop and redefine a more active and happy lifestyle.
McCollum’s classes are free. Proceeds from "An Evening of Jazz" will help him continue teaching for free, and to acquire necessary supplies.
There will be some raffles including a 50/50. Food and refreshments will be available for sale as well. Tickets for the event are $5 at the door and children under 14 will be admitted free.
This is a rain or shine event. In the event of rain, the event will be held indoors at Akenac’s rec hall.
