A preview of things to come Milford — Starting with the summer season, the Hotel Fauchere will now host a variety of events throughout the week from music and drink specials, to jazz brunches and special wine tastings. These new, fun events are just a preview of what the Hotel has planned for the future. Over the course of the next year, they will continue to expand their list of ‘things to do’. “We look forward to not just these events, but also a handful of others that we will carry out throughout the year,” said Donny Sullivan, General Manager of the Hotel Fauchere. Launching the string of ‘things to do’ at the Hotel Fauchere include: Good Vibrations Music Series - Features live music by various artists in Bar Louis every Tuesday night throughout the summer, from 6pm to 9pm. Catch local artists, Bobby Kyle and friends, along with John Curtin and other great local musicians. Ladies Night - When the working day is done, “girls just want to have fun,” and Thursday nights, from 5 p.m., until close in Bar Louis, it’s Ladies Night. With drink specials all night long, featuring some of the Hotel’s newest specialty cocktails like Diva (Blood Orange Puree, Clementine Orange Vodka, Orange Bitters & Lemon, shaken up with a sugar rim) and Solstice Margarita (Jalepeno Infused Platinum Tequila, Passionfruit, Fresh Lime, Agave Nectar with salt rim), the girls will certainly have some fun! Sunday Jazz Brunch - Feast from an a la carte menu in the Delmonico Room every Sunday beginning at 9 a.m., featuring various jazz musicians, Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. The music begins at 12 p.m. Music for Art - Listen to live music on the Porch during Art After Dark, the second Saturday of every month, while experiencing a tasting of three different wines for $15. And not to be forgotten, the Fauchere Wine Circle Series, which are wine tastings that are held once a month in the Hotel Fauchere’s Conservatory. The series takes attendees on a journey through the history, aroma and palatable tastes of each wine that is selected for the evening. About the Fauchere The Hotel Fauchere was opened in the mid-19th century by Louis Fauchere, the Swiss-born French-speaking master chef at New York City’s world-famous Delmonico’s restaurant. Run by the Fauchere family for 125 years, the Fauchere guest book registry reads as a veritable “Who’s Who” of the 19th and 20th centuries including such luminaries as Robert Frost, Sarah Bernhardt, President Theodore Roosevelt, President Franklin Roosevelt, President John F. Kennedy, General William Tecumseh Sherman, Franz Liszt, Jr., and captains of industry such as Henry Ford, the Carnegies and the Rockefellers. Early film pioneer D.W. Griffith shot several of his silent epics in the area, and was thus a regular of the Fauchere, along with many early stars of the silver screen, including Dorothy and Lillian Gish, Pearl White, Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin.
