STROUDSBURG - What better way to warm the heart and soothe the senses during these blustery winter months than by visiting a local art gallery and enjoying fine art. On Saturday, Feb. 3, Stroudsburg’s ArtSpace Gallery and the Pocono Arts Council will welcome guest artist Fernando Salomone to joins the members of ArtSpace Gallery for a mid-winter art show. Guest artist, Fernando Salomone, is an Argentinean by birth. As a painter, he said his Manhattan apartment is not big enough to accommodate an art studio; so, finding it difficult to paint in Manhattan, he regularly comes to Pennsylvania to paint, rooming with friends in White Haven. Salomone paints landscapes with earthy, subdued, muted colors. A personal catharsis evolves while he works, bordering on a combination between what he sees in nature and what he subconsciously incorporates from numerous past experiences. Anyone who has seen Salomone’s paintings knows full well that he often paints trees; however, the selling point of his pieces is his unique use of color. Inspired by the myriad greens of the Pocono Mountains, Salomone mixes them with childhood memories. “You always keep those colors in your brain,” he said. Look for Fernando Salomone’s oil paintings at the Artspace Gallery during the month of February, beginning with an artist’s reception on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. During the gala opening and artists’ reception, all gallery visitors and guests will have an opportunity to feast their eyes on new works gilding the walls, while sipping fine wine and enjoying a coterie of light refreshments. In addition to Salomone’s work, take the opportunity to view the wide spectrum of resident gallery artists: Irene Bartz’ landscapes and floral oil paintings, Jean Benfante’s dreamscape visions, Nancy Bohm’s ceramics and pottery, Will Daskal’s impressionistic landscapes and seascapes, Doug Gilbert’s abstract surreal works, Jim Hannan’s landscapes, still life and seascape oil paintings, Helen Heeron’s oil paintings, John Kuhenbeaker’s large-scale, futuristic abstract acrylic paintings, Lenore Feore-Mills’ Batik originals, Don Manza’s abstract photography, Lorena Masferrer’s still life paintings and large-scale florals, Richard Spezzano’s abstracts and perceptual photography, and Greg Waltzer’s abstract watercolors and photography. Salomone will be there in person, along with all the other ArtSpace members for the opening to meet with guests and visitors and to discuss their work and their unique artistic techniques. The ArtSpace Gallery is located at 18 North 7th Street, just off Main Street in Stroudsburg. This exhibit will run from Feb. 3 to 25. As always, there is free street parking available after 6 p.m. For further information call 570-476-4460 or visit the Web site at www.artspacegallery.net.
