Heritage photo exhibit at the Guild

MILFORD The Highlands Photographic Guild is pleased to present John Levandoski’s “Pictures from Home, My Pennsylvania Heritage,” a black and white photographic display. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 14th, from 6 to 9 p.m. in conjunction with Art After Dark. “The images in this show represent places I’ve been and things I’ve seen throughout Pennsylvania during my photographic career. From striking union workers (of which I was one) to beautiful landscapes to old churches and the rodeo, images that remind all of us of our home in Pennsylvania.” John’s medium of choice is black and white silver halide photography and a large format camera. Using fiber-based paper and a traditional darkroom allows the tonal range of the negative to produce a more dimensional image. “I enjoy the whole process of making a fine print starting with pre-visualizing my subject exposing and processing the negative, and finally interpreting the final image through printing.” Ansel Adams and Edward Weston have influenced John’s vision as have more contemporary photographers such as John Sexton and Clyde Butcher “My Pennsylvania Heritage” will be on view through Sunday, July 6. The Highlands Photographic Guild, at 224 Broad Street (Wachovia Bank Building), is open Friday Sunday from 11 a.m. 6 p.m. More information about the gallery, its members or the current exhibit can be found at www.highlandsphotoguild.com or by calling 570-296-2440 during gallery hours.
