Historic Tavern Trail continues with Erie Hotel
PORT JERVIS — The Erie Hotel and Restaurant in Port Jervis is the next stop on journey to Orange County's most historic inns and restaurants.
The 2016 Historic Tavern Trail of the Hudson Valley is a cross-promotion between Orange County history, tourism and economic development, these "Tavern Trail" happy hour and dinner events will feature local food, a specialty Tavern Trail cocktail, and friendly discussions of local history in a relaxed atmosphere.
"We received a wonderful response during last year's Tavern Trail events and look forward to building on that success in 2016," Orange County Historian Johanna Yaun said. "Guests this year will have an opportunity to meet new friends, learn more about historic venues in Orange County and try the 'Apple Jack Downing,' a new signature cocktail featuring local ingredients."
The tours will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the last Friday of each month through October. Each event kicks off with a "history happy hour." A tavern/restaurant owner and local expert will follow with a brief presentation on a local history topic. Anyone staying for dinner at 7 p.m. must RSVP directly with the restaurant.
