Historical society offers Lincoln contest
MILFORD In honor of President Lincoln’s Bicentenary year, the Pike County Historical Society is offering a unique way for artists, young and old, to express their feelings about our beloved sixteenth President. The Society will offer a blank canvas, in the form of a plate, on which participants can let their creative juices flow. Simply stop by the Society, located at 608 Broad Street in Milford, and make a donation of $10 for the plate, and then do your own thing. The Lincoln Plates will then be judged by a distinguished panel of local artists, with prizes awarded in several catagories. The plates’ creators will be invited to a reception in May, where the plates will be judged, and auctioned off to benefit the museum. Plates will be avilable starting March 25. The Museum is open Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. Simply stop in and ask the attendant for your plate, or two ... or three. There is no limit on entries. The plates will be exhibited at the Museum May 13 throug 23, with the judging and reception to commence at the close of the museum on the May 23. This is a great way to show your creativity and at the same time help a worthy cause. For more information call 570-296-8126 or e-mail pikemuse@ptd.net.
