— Listen to live music all around the town at the Honesdale Roots & Rhythm music and arts festival on Saturday, June 18.
The 11th annual free music and arts event will be held around historic Honesdale’s Main and Church Street areas. Highlights include the Tunes & Tales Tent, sponsored by Lisa Macchia-Ohliger, along with the arts tent and vendors row.
Roots and Rhythm is a free family-entertainment event that also offers artisan wares for sale by the artists themselves (Artist’s Row), food vendors, and activities for children. Tunes and Tales, sponsored by Lisa Macchia-Ohliger, will provide hands-on demonstrations and storytelling in the courtyard of the Central United Methodist Church.
Roots and Rhythm will also offer several workshops around the festival, including a music workshop the night before at Basin and Main, 564 Main St., with Two-Thirds Goat, a bluesy country band that will open the main stage on Saturday, followed by Tall Pines, Borges and the headliner, Amy Helm.
Honesdale Roots and Rhythm, a non-profit, “green” event, is produced by volunteers and always looking for more volunteers. It is supported by donations and grants, including an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
