— Jazz pianist Joe Vincent Tranchina will perform a free solo concert at the Krause Recital Hall at the Delaware Arts Center, 37 Main St., Narrowsburg, N.Y.
An audience Q&A and reception will follow.
This will be the first jazz concert played on the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance’s recently inaugurated 1913 Mason & Hamlin grand piano.
Voted Hudson Valley 2010 Jazz Musician of the Year in Times Herald-Record’s annual Best Of readers’ poll, Tranchina has been seen in most of the major jazz and club venues throughout New York City and the surrounding area, including Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Birdland, the Oak Room and the Blue Note. He has also performed at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and has toured abroad in Germany, Switzerland, Greece and Japan.
The composer, and occasional lyricist, of over 1,000 compositions, Tranchina’s work ranges from straight-ahead, fusion, and Brazilian jazz to new age, world beat, pop and classical. He has been recognized for the past 17 consecutive years with ASCAPlus awards for “creative contributions to American music” and performances of his original jazz compositions.
The performance will include interpretations of standards like “Gee Baby Ain’t I Good to You,” “Like Someone in Love,” and “Out of This World,” along with a mashup of Paul McCartney’s “Yesterday” and Jerome Kern and Otto Harbach’s “Yesterdays.” Tranchina will also play several of his original compositions: “Conundrum,” “Entropy,” and “Lilith.”
