LORDS VALLEY — Art lovers throughout the Pocono Mountains area are in for a huge treat this Spring. On Friday, April 4, Chant Realtors will showcase the amazing drawing and painting talent of artist Jim Hannan. Jim’s work is legendary for its fine detail and superior compositional layout. Adept at both charcoal drawing and oil painting, Jim Hannan’s work is sure to delight all who come to view it. Jim’s artistic career began when he discovered that his talent for drawing could improve his school grades, particularly in English literature, where a well-illustrated book review more than compensated for the verbal content. After Air Force duty and graduation from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Jim pursued a career in the aerospace industry as a technical adviser to the Air Force in the United States and Southeast Asia. Upon returning from Southeast Asia, Jim was a supervising engineer for a machine tool manufacturer on Long Island, a position he left in June 1995 to devote himself full-time to painting. Jim’s art education began at the Art Students’ League in New York City and continued at Nassau Community College on Long Island. In 1994 he received a Master of Arts degree in Studio Art from Long Island University. Jim’s paintings have been exhibited in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas and several paintings are owned by Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton, Pennsylvania and are on display in the lobby there. Other paintings are in private collections throughout the country. Jim has been a member of Artspace Gallery since 1995. Jim lives with his wife, Peggie, in McMichaels, Pa. The artists’ reception will be held on Friday, April 4 from 5-7 p.m., and light refreshments will be served. Chant Realtors are located at 631 state Route 739 in Lords Valley, just south of Exit 34 on the interstate. Jim’s exhibit will run from Apr. 4 through April 29. Chant Realtors are open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and gallery-goers are always welcome.
