Lacawac inspires new artists with drawing lesson

LAKE ARIEL — Spend a day exploring drawing techniques and habitats at Lacawac Sanctuary with resident artist Heidi Van Leuven.
Novice artists will learn the basics of drawing with graphite and colored pencils in a fun and stress-free environment on Saturday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Capture the beauty of Lacawac with assisted landscape drawing. No experience is necessary.
The cost is $25 per person, or $20 with a Lacawac membership card. Wear sturdy footwear and bring a packed lunch. Prepare to spend most of the day outdoors.
Heidi Van Leuven draws much inspiration from nature. She teaches painting classes while working on a variety of art and music projects in the Scranton area.
Lacawac Sanctuary and Field Station is a nature preserve, biological research station and environmental education center on 545 acres, which includes the near pristine glacial Lake Lacawac, a National Nature Landmark, and its watershed, bogs, forests with hiking trails and a Great Camp listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
