Lacawac Sanctuary offers spring programs
LAKE ARIEL — Lacawac Sanctuary in Lake Ariel is offering some programs for spring:
Historic Lodge and Grounds Tour, Saturday, April 8, 10 a.m.-noon. Enjoy a guided tour in and around the Adirondack Great Camp Lodge and Carriage house. Learn about the Connell and Watres families and what it was like to live at Lacawac in the early 20th century. Wear comfortable hiking shoes. All ages welcome. Registration appreciated. Free.
Spring Sketch and Stretch, Sunday, April 23, noon-1:30 p.m. No art experience necessary. Relax and have fun on a guided hike, where you'll learn about Lacawac and some basics of how to sketch what's around you. Ages 14 and up. Registration appreciated. Cost is $10, or $5 for members.
Spring Tea at the Watres Lodge, Sunday April 30, 2-4 p.m. This traditional tea includes scones, egg salad and chicken salad sandwiches, and various cookies and pastries. Hot teas and iced teas will be served. The table will be set with dishes and teacups from Lacawac's collection. Learn about Lacawac's history. The cost is $25 per guest.
Lacawac was built in 1903 as a summer estate of Congressman William Connell. Six of the eight buildings remain. It's located at 94 Sanctuary Rd. in Lake Ariel.
