MILFORD - Laurel Villa Country Inn & Restaurant will celebrate the arrival of cooler weather and the upcoming Halloween holiday with its international “Reds of Autumn” wine-tasting to be held on Friday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Laurel Villa’s fireplace parlor and will feature five red wines specially selected for their body and character. John Foley, of Capital Wines & Spirits, will present and describe each selection. Any guest who arrives in costume will receive a door prize. A highlight of the evening is sure to be the Hang Time Pinot Noir from the Arroyo Seco region of California, featured in the recent movie hit “Sideways.” Also included in the tasting will be St. Francis Red, a merlot/zinfandel/grenache blend from Sonoma, California, a Greg Norman Shiraz from Australia, a Two Tone Farm organic Cabernet from the Napa region of California, and a Bonello Merlot/Nero d’Avola blend from Sicily. “Each wine has been selected not only for its taste and value, but also for its suitability to the cooler months,” said Janice Halsted, Innkeeper at the Laurel Villa. “The costumes are totally optional, but fun!” Accompanying each wine will be hors d’oeuvres chosen and prepared by Chef Carl, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. All guests who choose to stay for dinner afterwards will receive 15% off their entree. Upcoming events at the Laurel Villa include a Single Malt scotch tasting to be held on Friday, December 2. Seating for “The Reds of Autumn” is limited. Reservations, at $25 per person, should be made by Sunday, Oct. 23. For reservations and more information, call the Laurel Villa at 570-296-9940.
