MILFORD — The Laurel Villa Country Inn & Restaurant will bid a festive goodbye to the summer season as it presents its annual “International Wine Festival” wine-tasting dinner on Friday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. The event will be held under the stars on the Laurel Villa’s patio and lawn, adjacent to its formal English gardens and koi pond. Ivan Mines of Southern Wines & Spirits will present and describe six sumptuous wines from around the world. Featured at the event will be Torres Tempranillo and Torres Vina Esmerelda from Spain, Haras de Pirque Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile, as well as Erath Pinot Noir from Oregon and Indian Wells Riesling from Washington State. Chef Carl will create six matching dishes to complement each of the wines, including Chilean Sea Bass in a light shrimp sauce, a spicy Spanish paella, and Roast Loin of Pork Tenderloin wrapped in pancetta and served with a wild mushroom au jus. “Three serving stations will decorate the grounds,” said Janice Halsted, Innkeeper at the Laurel Villa, “and guests will be able to wander at their leisure from country to country sampling its wines and cuisine.” Seating for the “International Wine Festival” is limited, and reservations, at $55 per person, should be made by Sunday, Aug. 26. The Laurel Villa serves dinner from 5 PM Wednesday through Sunday, and features a lighter “Pub Menu” on Wednesdays and Thursdays in addition to its full dinner menu.
