MILFORD — “Negatives”, a play by Milford attorney John Klemeyer was recently staged at the theater festival of the Theater Association of New York State (TANYS) in Glens Falls, N.Y. “Negatives” was one of only three full length plays to be chosen from over 250 plays submitted from across the state. The play earned three festival awards with Klemeyer and Sally Minich awarded excellence in acting judges awards and Minich received a festival favorite award voted upon by the audience. “Negatives” was presented this fall at the night club at The Waterwheel Cafe at the Upper Mill. It premiered in South Fallsburg, N.Y. at the Rivoli Theatre in August to critical acclaim. Playwrights Horizons called “Negatives” a “plot driven” “well crafted yarn”. The Times Herald Record said it had “well developed characters” and a plot with satisfying twists and turns. The Sullivan County Democrat called “Negatives” “an original, clever drama with a liberal sprinkling of humor”. The Theater Association of New York State described “Negatives” as “an evening of fulfilling theater with a storyline that draws the audience in from the start”. The play is the story of two sisters and a brother who are brought together to deal with the aftermath of the death of their father. It seems that their father left behind a secret and they must decide how to deal with that secret. The sibling relationship and how that stands in the way of any consensus is the central theme of the play. John Klemeyer is a Shohola resident and “Negatives” was the first of his plays to be staged in Pennsylvania. The author is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
