Mansion decorations and holiday programs

Seasonal offerings at Grey Towers MILFORD — Grey Towers National Historic Site will once again offer its many seasonal programs throughout December, including the Christmas Carol theatrical readings, holiday musical performances, refreshments and the beautifully decorated mansion open for visitation. A free weekend Dec. 12-13, in the spirit of the season, will kick off the events. On Saturday, Dec. 12, from 2-4 p.m., the Gifford Pinchot Audubon Society will host its annual holiday tea and program. The event is free and refreshments are provided by Pinchot Audubon members. On Sunday, Dec. 13, from 1-4 p.m., visitors can see all three floors of the 1886-mansion for free. The mansion is decorated for the season by the Milford Garden Club which has a long-standing relationship with Grey Towers. The Shohola Elementary School Bell Choir will provide traditional holiday sounds and free hot chocolate and treats will be provided. Weekday guided tours of all three floors of the mansion are offered Dec. 14-18 and Dec. 21-23, at 1 and 3 p.m. Open House: visitors can see all three floors at their own pace, is offered from 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 13, Dec. 19, Dec. 20 and Dec. 27-30. A $4 fee per person is charged for the holiday tours and Open House. Additional holiday events at Grey Towers include: Tickets are on sale now for the traditional and very popular theatrical reading of “A Christmas Carol,” performed by Joe Plummer and son on Sunday, Dec. 6 in the Great Hall. Tickets are $15 per person and are available now by calling 570-296-9625 or online at www.greytowers.org. River Gap Recorders Consort will perform at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19. Lost Art Lacers of North New Jersey will demonstrate their talent from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13. Grey Towers has been hosting seasonal programs for more than 25 years.
