    New Riders of the Purple Sage’s Ronnie Penque kicks off series Milford — The summer season is upon us with its usual artful, musical flair. Milford Borough’s Music in the Park kicks off this year’s concert series with Ronnie Penque of New Riders of the Purple Sage and Marc Von Em, vocalist/guitarist for Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20, on Sunday, July 12 in Memorial Park on Ann Street in Milford. All Music in the Park events begin at 2 p.m., and are free to the public. The Ronnie Penque Band (RPB) is a jam band lead by Ronnie Penque of the New Riders of the Purple Sage (NRPS). The band features strong vocals, smoking harmonies and good old-school, jam-band song writing. When Ronnie isn’t touring with NRPS, he’s working with RPB, playing bass and singing most of the lead vocals. . Now in its fourth year, Milford Borough’s Music in the Park remains a free, community-oriented summer concert series held at Ann Street Memorial Park, on Sunday afternoons. Music in the Park Sundays schedule: July 26 - Roy Ramos and Island Sol Cool Caribbean sounds featuring steel pans with a calypso and reggae sound infused with a pop flair. Aug. 2 - Sam Waymon and The Magic Band Original American music - a whimsical journey of tunes ranging from Marvin Gaye and Stevie Ray Vaughn to Ray Charles and Bob Dylan. Aug. 16 - Simply Noted Up-beat original country music. Aug. 30 - Murali Coryell The future of blues - renounced blues/soul singer and guitarist.
