MILFORD — On Friday, May 1, the Muir House will welcome Ronnie Penque, Chris Penque and Gary Sanguinetti for a one-night-only special performance. The trio is led by Ronnie Penque, bassist and lead vocalist for the New Riders of the Purple Sage, a world-renowned jam band born of the beatnik/psychedelic rock scene in 1970s San Francisco, along with Ronnie’s brother Chris Penque of the Ronnie Penque Band, and Gary Sanguinetti of Friday Muir favorite The Wooden Spoon Band. Longtime friends and accomplished musicians, the trio promises to provide a can’t-miss live experience for music lovers of any persuasion. With over 30 years in the music business, Ronnie has been involved with many projects. He has spent the last several years touring full-time with the New Riders of the Purple Sage, Milford Music Festival veterans, and handling vocals and bass for his solo project, the Ronnie Penque Band. Ronnie has also toured with Melvin Seals of the Jerry Garcia Band, and formed the Grateful Dead cover band Ripple in 1978. Chris Penque played in Ripple for 12 years, and has been playing music with Ronnie all his life. He currently plays rhythm guitar in the Ronnie Penque band, and also has his own group, the South Jersey-based Half the Distance. Talented guitarist Sanguinetti is a Muir House staple, consistently delivering a diverse and infectious array of contemporary and classic tunes with The Wooden Spoon Band every Friday. Gary grew up with Chris and Ronnie in Old Tappan, and was the first guitarist in Ripple, which rocked until 2000. The show is set to begin at 9 p.m. There is no charge for those dining at the restaurant that evening; $5 music charge for tickets purchased in advance; $8 music charge for tickets purchased at the door. Advanced purchase is highly recommended as the venue is expected to fill up quickly. The Muir House offers a full menu of New American cuisine with ethnic accents, and a cozy bar atmosphere perfect for relaxing and enjoying live music. The restaurant is located at 102 state Route 2001 in Milford. For directions or information, visit www.muirhouse.com; e-mail info@muirhouse.com; or call 570-296-6373.
