No-till webinar shows how easy gardening can be
MILFORD — Are you ready to give up digging out "Pennsylvania potatoes” (i.e., rocks) for a garden?
Would you like to convert a grassy area into a flowering oasis without having to dig up the grass?
Would you like to grow organic vegetables and not have to contend with a multiple crop of weeds?
Sheila Salmon, Penn State Master Gardener volunteer, attended a program by Patricia Lanza more than ten years ago that radically changed the way she gardened. Salmon will share her experience in a webinar scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, at the Pike County Public Library, 119 East Harford St., Milford.
Using readily available materials such as newspapers, leaves, and grass clippings, you can have a beautiful organic plot for vegetables, shrubs, or flowers.
Penn State Master Gardener Volunteer Ann Streb, will discuss two other no-till methods — potato towers and straw bale gardening — suitable for vegetable production. Both will be explained as ways to overcome limitations of mobility, time, space, or soil quality.
Pre-registration is preferred to guarantee sufficient materials. The fee is $5.
