Peter’s Europa House welcomes the seasonal feast SHOHOLA — Plans for the second annual Oktoberfest at Peter’s Europa House Restaurant are moving into full gear for the upcoming celebration concluding Friday through Sunday, October 17. A special menu with authentic German fare including sauerbraten, rouladen, schnitzel, and wursts, etc. will be offered, and draft beers from Germany will be featured throughout the event; likewise with a fine selection of German wines. Side dishes include all of the favorites such as spaetzle, potato pancakes, sauteed red cabbage, and German potato salad. From soups, including goulash and German beer cheddar soup, to desserts including Helena’s famous apple strudel, bread pudding, and German chocolate cake, a taste of Germany and Austria is as near as Peter’s Restaurant on Route 6 in Shohola. In keeping with the spirit of Oktoberfest, the entire service staff will be in Alpine outfits just for the occasion. Peter Jajcay, chef-owner of the restaurant, was delighted last year not only by the many people who came for Oktoberfest, but who also showed up dressed in costume too. “Everyone really got into the spirit of things last year,” said Peter, “I’m looking forward to what this year will bring.” Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) there will be no yodeling by the staff, although any customers with that unique talent are encouraged to display it. Tuba playing is expressly forbidden. Peter’s Europa House is at 1023 Route 6 in Shohola. For information or to make reservations, call 570-296-2624. Come celebrate Oktoberfest. It’s a once a year event that you don’t want to miss.
