MILFORD — No, he’s not a DJ; that is his name. The DJ Williams Projekt, hailing from Richmond, Va., is probably one of the fastest rising bands on the music festival scene right now. PikeMoms.Com is proud to bring the pared down trio, known as The Breaks, to Milford as part of the first Samplings of Summer fundraising event for the American Cancer Society planned for Aug. 1. The band, which has been touring relentlessly over the last three years, combines a tight rhythm section, with sweet horn lines, and an amazing guitar player who plays with honest to God soul, to create a solid crowd pleasing mix of funk, jazz and soul. From day one they have been filling venues up and down the east coast and performing at prestigious festivals such as Langerado, All Good, High Sierra, Smilefest, Haymaker, and Jamcruise as well as sharing the stage with John Legend, Citizen Cope, Karl Denson, Soulive, Marc Broussard and even joining Dave Matthews for a couple of dates last summer. With an emphasis on compelling melody, refined songwriting and deep musical exploration, the DJ Williams Projekt IS one of the few bands that can truly be called an original. Just don’t let the name confuse you because this young guitar player is laying out sounds that any “DJ” would love to sample. The Samplings of Summer event is as much an awareness raiser about the progress against cancer as it is a fundraiser. For more information on this event or to purchase tickets please contact Tonyehn Verkitus at 570-562-9749. PikeMoms.com was started by Lisa McAteer after she grew frustrated trying to locate reputable contractors to do work at her home. This spurred her to create a central ‘cyber’ meeting place for people in the area to share valuable informations. Also supporting this event are Peter’s Europa House, Party Time Rentals, Dingman’s Flowers, Bashakill Vineyard and more.
